Socialization
Socialization is all about getting your puppy socialized! But doing so in a productive, constructive manner. It is important to introduce to your puppy to different experiences early on in life to build up their confidence and good behavior.
Examples of socialization include introducing your puppy to new people in the home, delivery persons that enter the yard, and people out in public. It is also a good idea to introduce your puppy to other dogs while on leash walks or at the dog park. While dog parks can yield mixed experiences, quiet times at dog parks or dog parks with puppy areas often yield good results. Learning about other dog breeds and recognizing troublemakers at dog parks or on walks can be vital to keeping your English Cream Golden Retriever safe and happy.
It is important to wait until your puppy is 4 months to enter dog parks or puppy daycare as this will allow it time to go through several rounds of vaccinations.
Having a friend or pet sitter spend time with your dog is another key tool to making sure your dog is willing to behave and respond to commands of others.
