History of Golden Retrievers
In the mid 1860s in the highlands of Scotland, Dudley Coutts Marjoribanks began breeding flat coated retrievers with Tweed Water Spaniels to first establish the Golden Retriever as the perfect gun dog.
The pairing of yellow coated retriever named Nous and a Tweed Water Spaniel named Belle created the first Golden Retriever.
The Golden Retriever was first recognized as a breed in 1911 by the UK Kennel club.
In 1920, the Golden Retriever club was created.
In 1925, the American Kennel Club (AKC) recognized the Golden Retriever as a breed.
